Shared ownership helps Speke family onto the property ladder

South Liverpool Homes (SLH) has helped a local family get onto the property ladder by building the first homes for shared ownership in Speke.

The delighted family of four moved into their brand new three-bedroom home on the Mill Brow development, Speke, making the leap from renting to part-owning their home.

With funding from Homes England, this is just one of four homes that will be available for shared ownership on the new housing development by Keepmoat Homes, with a further four homes being built for Rent to Buy - a Government scheme which aims to ease the transition from renting to buying.

Discussing her decision to buy a home through shared ownership, Tracy said: “When we heard about the new homes at Mill Brow, it ticked all the boxes.  Shared ownership is a great stepping stone for us to be able to get our foot on the property ladder. We have bought shares we can afford at the moment but our plan is to buy a bigger stake in our home over the years.  Shared ownership is an affordable way of us buying a home and gives us a great investment for the future and our children.”

SLH is continuing to meet the growing needs of local people priced out of the property market through a programme of affordable sales products across South Liverpool.  They are currently building 10 homes for shared home ownership and Rent to Buy at their Hale View development in Speke and have recently started work on 22 luxury apartments for shared ownership close to Sefton Park.

Jay Siadankay, SLH’s Development Manager said: “We are delighted families can get on the property ladder in Speke with affordable home ownership products.  Buying your first home can seem like an impossible task but shared ownership makes it achievable and affordable. We are looking forward to helping more people realise their dream through continued investment in shared ownership and Rent to Buy homes.”
